How does ThermaCote® maintain the structural integrity of your concrete?

ThermaCote® insulates your concrete, while simultaneously maintaining the substrates structural integrity.

Damage is produced by carbonation of concrete.

Carbonation of reinforced concrete is one of the most common forms of deterioration in buildings and infrastructure. Untreated masonry is also highly vulnerable to the damaging ingress of water and freeze/thaw cycling. Carbonation is a natural process and is virtually impossible to avoid when using unprotected concrete because the process begins as soon as concrete is exposed to the elements. Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere reacts with the concrete, leading to a loss of alkalinity and subsequent corrosion of the reinforcing steel. Therefore, structural integrity can become severely compromised.

ThermaCote® is an Anti-Carbonatation Coating

ThermaCote® provides the ultimate protection against the ingress of carbon dioxide, oxygen and water, while allowing damp substrates to breathe without blistering. The ThermaCote® formulation may be spray applied to nearly all interior and exterior substrates to reduce or eliminate thermal bridging, air or water infiltration and common expansion and contraction issues caused by radiant, convective or conductive heat gain or loss. The ThermaCote® application remains breathable for moisture to escape from the coated substrate and allows concrete structures to remain more dry and healthy, increasing their sustainability for longer periods and protecting against reinforcing steel corrosion. The ThermaCote® formulation includes our ‘BMR’ (Black Mold Resistant) technology to resist the formation of algae and black mold in hot, humid or cooler climates. It is made for all geographic regions.ThermaCote® has a CE mark for CONCRETE PROTECTION (which also includes carbonation protection).

If you want to protect your new or existing structures, you should seriously consider applying ThermaCote® on your concrete.
